25/06/2023 - Queen Sophie of the PDC.

Race results

It was a hot hot day for the Prestwold 10K but that didn’t deter 12 sun lovers getting out and giving it their best round the exposed, fairly quick course hosted by Barrow Runners.

Queen of the Prestwold Driving Centre airfield was Sophie Turner who despite the conditions clocked a stunning personal best by nearly 9 minutes, improving on her time at the same event last year by an eye watering amount. What a year our Soph is having.

She was joined by ladies team mates Laura Graves in 50:57 winning her age category by comfortable margins in more than 90 seconds. Mindy Ashton was up on her tail finishing in 51:04, Lindsay Tilbury was next in 52:11, Carolyn Osborne ran her third LRRL event of the season in 56:36 and Julie Henfrey crossed through the finishing line in 1:33:01. Becky Moult our second claim champ was also out in her yellow attire, and ran a great time of 46:54.

After race 6 of 9, our ladies team are 3rd in division two, and the vet ladies team are 4th also in divison two.

Onto our gents, and James Cox was first past the post in 39:37, followed by Richard Martin in 41:56. Patrick Horn completed the run in 46:02, Paul Averillo next in 53:29 and Kenny Ashton, whilst we’re only half way through the year, clocked up his 5th race, equally the amount he did throughout 2022, and clocked 1:15:33.

With three races remaining, the men’s team are top of division three (keep it up champs!), the vet mens teams are second in division two which means both are in promotion territory, and the mixed team are fifth in division two.
