10/06/2023 - Derby, Prestwold & Harborough.

A whole host of different races to bring you today; see if any of these take your fancy and get them on your list for next year!

Cath Watkins and Nick Rowles added a race to their glamping weekend at the Abersoch 10K. 20 degree heat and a final km on sand probably wasn’t quite the relaxing holiday they had in mind but Nick ran a fabulous 49:49 for Nick and Cath’s 53:44 bagged her an amazing 6th place.

Kenny Ashton became the poster boy for the Derbion 5 mile when he took part in this event earlier this month. He’s the first and only Ivanhoe to do this one, and a great time of 56:22 knocked more than 4 minutes off his debut from less than two months prior.

Seven more from the blue team headed in the same direction opting for the 13.1 mile distance. Alastair Chambers was first back in an impressive 1:26:12, making the top 100 at the mass event. Second claimer John Finn was next, a new all time best for him in 1:28:28, bettering his 2018 Rhyl half time by 13 seconds.

Andrew Stanley was on the hunt for his first sub 90 and despite the sun burning stronger than ideal, he was rewarded for his graft in training with almost a 4 minute PB and 1:28:39. A superb pacing squad of John, and other South Derbyshire’s Kelly and Rom rallied hard displaying displayed how much team work can pay off in the endurance events.

Richard Hampson completed his first half marathon setting an amazing time of 1:28:53 and James Ogilvie was next, repeating the same event where he set his PB in ’21 and came within a minute in 1:40:59. Clare Wood was another to set a super PB, 35 seconds knocked off her Brass Monkey 2019 time in 1:43;04, and Helen Finn completed our amazing team running 2:00:59 her longest event since her marathon double earlier this year.

Matt Humphreys and Tor Meadows both completed the Leics Chase the Sun event at Prestwold Hall. Matt stuck his first 10K on the board in a fabulous 49:32, and it was a shiny 6th place for Tor who finished in 52:58.

Judy Mouncer has her eyes firmly on her standard distinction prize, and chose Market Harborough as her destination to bag her 10K distance. 57:34 secured her time comfortably and the end of her quest is near.
