Race results

Every week Ivanhoe are busy busy so here’s a jam packed update for you from many a race recently. Whilst we had a mass of champs down in the capital for the London Marathon, James Cox and Becky Moult found a quieter shindig at the Tissington Trail marathon for their 26.2 showcase. James’s previous marathon was taking in the sights around Ladybower, and having put in plenty of quality training lately, it was no surprise a hefty personal best came his way. He stopped the clock in an impressive 3:11:55 snatching up 6th place. Becky ran for the yellow team and did incredibly well finishing as fourth female. A great time of 3:47:25 adding to a growing collection of fabulous runs this year so far.

Three runners took on the Milton Keynes marathon staged on the May Day bank holiday. Andrew Stanley was first back for our trio setting a club course record for the event. Our legend decided to sign up for a spring marathon after a cracking run at the Ivanhoe 20, so continued ramping up training from that point. Whilst he wasn’t particularly happy with it himself, a 3:39 marathon is sure as hell a great effort even if it didn’t come together how he wanted. The marathon sure as hell knows how to chew you up and spit you out. There’s more to come over the distance for this super star.

Ian Kirk and Tim Sturla rocked up to another marathon start line adding them to their collection like a set of Pokemon cards. 4:21:37 was the time for Ian and 4:34:39 for Tim, and whilst I don’t have the stats for Tim (do feel free to pipe up), I believe this was marathon number 144 for Ian. What an amazing achievement.

Four more runners were in action in MK, splitting the marathon distance between them (most sensible in my opinion!). Gemma Shaw, Paul Averillo, Lucy Allsop and Michelle Coates joined forces to create team Ivanhoe Clue (they said it, not me!) and whilst Team GB may not been giving them top points for their baton exchanges, they sure looked to be have fun doing it, and soon got back out on course to cheer in our marathoners. Top job team!
