11/09/2022 - #doitforpricey (final throwback)

Race results

We’ve reached the final instalment of our throwback reports, and we start with the Dovedale Dipper, a challenging trail event for runners and walkers alike, based in the picturesque village of Hartington in the Peak District. With two distance options available, the bunch going long, taking on the marathon, was Paul Woods (4:57:47 and a club course record), Ian Kirk (5:36:26) and Heather Gilbert (7:00:05). Four in blue joined then for the 15 miles distance, Andrea Trickett leading the way and also nabbing the club course record (2:59:11), James Ogilvie (4:02:15), Lisa Hall (4:03:01) and Simon Hall (4:03:06).

Andy Cole was in action, flying solo for Ivanhoe at the Solihull half marathon. Back in mid August, his time of 1:39:59 scored him a new PB by 1 minute and 22 seconds, which he went on to destroy at Den Haag half. What a year for our Andy.

A week later, Andy added on a few miles build as part of his marathon build. The Trimpell 20 in Lancaster takes runners on multiple out and backs on a flat, fast course. His debut over the distance put a time of 2:37:16 on the board for him, a fabulous marker as he built up towards the Yorkshire marathon. He was joined by Mark Parker and Emily Partridge, having a dress rehearsal over 20 miles ahead of their adventure to Chicago. Mark finished in 14th position, his time of 2:03:59 taking down his Ivanhoe 20 2019 time by more than 20 minutes. It was a chunky PB for Emily too, her 2:44:56 taking more than 12 minutes from her Ashby 20 2015 outing, when she ran the event in orange for previous club Newark Striders.

The Stephen Price Memorial Price 10K was founded in 2019, in memory of Stephen, who sadly died suddenly in 2018, at the age of 37. He had previously won the former Aston 10K in both 2009 and 2010, and so reinstating the picturesque trail race, I’m sure you’d agree, is a fitting tribute. Runners are encouraged to cross the line in his signature airplane move ✈️ , and in September this year, his cousin Paul Codd #diditforforpricey. Paul didn’t quite take the title, as Stephen had a name for doing, but 15th position is pretty good too for 40 minutes 50. Well done Paul. 💙🤍❤️
