06/11/2022 - Sore heads at Shepshed

Race results

The morning after the night before ๐Ÿฅ‚ Many sore heads turned out for the popular Shepshed 7, after celebrating the marriage of club secretary Amelia to Chris, who tied the knot in Vegas the weekend prior. Congratulations to you both.

Surprisingly, there was a more than decent showing, and many a spectator turning out to cheer them round the undulating two laps. First home for Ivanhoe, and fifth place overall, was Mark Parker. His time of 41 minutes earnt him a PB by over 3 minutes and took the club course record. ๐Ÿ†

Next was Ramzi Sidani, a super solid run for 14th place in a time of 43:29. Sporting a grand hangover, nicely announced at the prize giving, was our speedster Abby Halcarz, in a phenomenal 46:01. Mark Harriott wore the wrong colour ๐Ÿ’›, as did Becky Moult, but both our second claimers got a big Ivanhoe cheer, crossing the line in 47:00 and 1:00:15 respectively.

Andrew Stanley was our second of the two PBs of the day, stopping the clock in 47:12, 12 seconds off his 2020 Stilton 7 time. Ian Bolton and James Cox were next to finish on the increasingly slippy field, 47:55 for Bolton and 49:31 for XC cap Coxy.

Jordan Cope was expertly paced by Dan Bladon, both scoring their debut club 7 mile run, and a superb time of 51:17 greeted them for their efforts. Matt Joyce and Andrew Bottrill rallied round to be next through the gantry, close together in 54:19 and 54:41.

Andrew Jeyes was another of our incredible prize winners, topping the pops in his age category with a shiny time of 55:28, and was in great company with Clare Wood chasing him home in 56:09 also achieving same feat. ๐Ÿฅ‡

Cath Watkins (57:05), Bec Sharpe (57:52), Suzy Parish (58:26), Jill Singleton (1:03:55) and Kenny Ashton (1:23:11) all completed their debut 7 milers for Ivanhoe, setting a fabulous bar for their next outing. Between them, we had our fabulous Finn’s running together, John & Helen finishing in 1:01:44, Sally Jeyes (1:05:52) and Ellen Jepson (1:05:52). Sarah Malone had a great run in 1:03:53, with company from previous member Karen Brown (Hartland) for much of the run before making a breakaway. Janet Joyce finished strong and with one of the biggest smiles in 1:25:30. โœŒ๐Ÿผ
