12/11/2022 - Leicester, Worksop & Seagrave.

The last Sunday of October saw Leicester come to life as it hosted both half marathon and 10K events. 10 Ivanhoes took to the stage for the 13.1 distance. First home, making the top ๐Ÿ’ฏ places and finishing under 90 minutes were Shaun Coulton and Richard Martin, running 1:25:06 and 1:28:22 respectively.

Patrick Horn found himself with heavy legs on the morning of the race but went out strong to see he could achieve. A superb time of 1:36:41 was how he stopped the clock. Identical times were in store for early morning training buddies Fiona Betts and Andrea Trickett ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ, making it round the streets of the city in 1:49:53. Power couple Lindsay Tilbury and Paul Woods also opted to enjoy each others company for the run, and went over the line in 1:57:14.

Jill Singleton had a cracking run to finish fourth in her age category with her time of 2:01:18. Michelle Coates was next to follow her in, her first half marathon for the club, in 2:09:45. Kim Harris did a sterling job at the mass event, and put a time of 2:37:56 on the board for her second club event of the year. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Out of Leicestershire and into Nottinghamshire, James Ogilvie went for the spooky theme, with it being Halloween Eve after all ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ, and had a go round the Worksop half marathon. His sparkling time of 1:40:47 added his fifth and final silver standard to his tally.

James was back in action last Saturday too, and was joined by four other brave souls for the Seagrave Wolds Challenge. The varied terrain had participants face muddy, slippery, rough terrain and well as the odd stile, gate, livestock and even the chance of ๐Ÿง . Paul Woods led the charge, finishing in 9th place and taking hold of the club course record.

Geoff Brown added another off-roader to his CV, finishing in 2:48:41, with Ogilvie only a second behind. Also a second apart were long distance heroes Tim Sturla and Ian Kirk, completing the event just shy of 3:02. Ian has been at every Seagrave since the start of my records in 2014, with Tim being at five out of the seven. Impressive! ๐Ÿ’ฅ
