04/09/2022 - Rotherby, Big Half & Wilne

What a sensational September it has been so far! We’ll start at the start, where the biggest turnout on the 4th was the final LRRL fixture, Rotherby 8. A new event to the schedule saw our first finishers home nab the coveted club course records. It was James Cox for the men, 50:58 for 53rd place, surprisingly his debut 8 miler, and Amelia Monaghan for the girls in a new PB time, 1 min 54 seconds taken from her May time for 19th place in 1:00:28.

Paul Woods was second man home, a new personal best, 1 minute 2 seconds quicker than West End in 51:46. Andy Cole in fine form through training for Yorkshire marathon, ran the biggest PB of the day, a gigantic 4 minutes and 46 seconds taken off previous attempts.

Matt Joyce ran a super solid run and was so close to his gold standard, the hills get in the way a little but most certainly a valiant effort. Victoria Smith was next in 1:06:03 securing her 3rd place in her age category.

Another PB followed, with Suzy Parish home in 1:06:59 for a 25 second best time. Racing queen Lindsay Tilbury toed the line at her 12th event of 2022, and completed the full set of LRRL races.

Nancy Bennion and Judy Mouncer both ran their debut 8 mile races in their Ivanhoe blue, and Julie Henfrey completed our 11 runners crossing the race conquering the hilly course.

In the capital, an inspiring trio donned their charity vests to raise money for causes very close to their hearts. Chris Osborne was first back for Ivanhoe at The Big Half in a time of 1:42:11. Laura Graves and Mindy Ashton ran 1:54:36 and 1:55:42 respectively, each having already ran three half marathons so far this year. Katie Roberts turned our trio into a quartet, running her debut half marathon in a superb time of 2:15:08.

Two runners took on the Wilne 10K, a flat, fast route in Draycott, Derbyshire. Richard Martin got himself under the 40 minute barrier in 39:39, with Patrick Horn tackling the 6.2 miles in 43:58, a seasons best by over a minute.

It's been a mega busy summer at Ivanhoe Runners social media HQ. We’ll be trying our best to throwback to the races yet to grace a report over those warmer months, giving you a sunny reminisce as we enter colder days.
