30/08/2022 - Comrades & Longford

๐ŸŒŸ What a weekend! ๐ŸŒŸ

Kicking off with marathon man Ian Kirk who over in South Africa completed the iconic Comrades marathon. The 2022 race was a ‘down run’ edition, taking runners on a 90km journey from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Cut off times are no joke at this bucket list event. 12 hours is your limit and Ian described seeing runners realised they missed it as heartbreaking. Our main man crossed the line with tons of time to spare in 9 hours 38, a relief to reach the stadium after 50km of hills before the downs that shredded your mega with every step.

HUGE CONGRATS IAN. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Also going long this weekend was Helen Finn, completing the Longford marathon in a super time of 4:12:05. Big kudos to you Helen ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

We had runners out completing many training runs, lots making there way to the 20 mile distance as part of autumn marathon training, and great to see a large contingent get together for a loop of the Brooksies Bash course.

On parkrunday we had runners representing at Conkers, Cannon Hill, Barrow, Market Rasen Racecourse, Bedford, Fairview ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช , Holkham, Kingsbury, Knockanacree ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช, Rugby and Umhlanga ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ.

Great running everyone ๐ŸŽฝ
