08/04/2022 - parkrunday!

It’s parkrun eve. Do you know where you’ll be going? Maybe our roundup from last weeks antics will provide some inspiration.

20 Ivanhoe Runners stepped up for the 3.1 miles of Conkers parkrun. Martin Yeomans began his quest towards the 250 milestone after picking up the 100 at his last visit, whilst Pat Horn isn’t far behind on 98 runs so we’ll be looking out for his celebration few weeks time. New member Georgie Smith had a smashing run round the trails to be rewarded with a shiny new PB of 23:46, knocking a fantastic 16 seconds off her previous best that she set in November last year, and finished second female.

A huge thanks go out to Mark Bradford who donned the marshal high vis vest, Andrea Allen who supported with pre-event setup, and Ken Ashton, who contributed with an ‘other’ volunteer role. Thanks all!

Christine Ridley was at Silksworth parkrun for the first time for her 90th parkrun and 19th different event. Emily Partridge and Mark Parker trotted round South Manchester parkrun, in the north to cheer club members at the marathon the next day, and met up with former Ivanhoe member Ruth Cousin who was on pacing duties. Simon Hill was at Long Eaton parkrun for the second time to test out current fitness and set a fabulous new course personal best in 24:03 and fastest parkrun time of the year.

Nancy Bennion checked out Weymouth parkrun for the first time, for her second parkrun of 2022 after completing Conkers on New Years Day. Fiona McKean visited Penrith parkrun for the second time, also setting herself a new course PB, amazingly knocking over a minute off her previous best. Karl Wideman, joined by sons Oliver and Harry who are members of Ivanhoe Robins completed Penistone parkrun. Oliver and Karl ran together for super times of 20:33 and 20:36 respectively, and Harry only a few minutes away in a wonderful time of 24:39.

Five Ivanhoe Runners were at Watermead parkrun, Andy, Sally, Kevin, Judith and Jane ran, Judith for the first time completing her arbitrary 350th parkrun, whilst Sally and Jane both set course PBs, Jane’s time of 28:10 being her fourth fastest all-time parkrun finish. Well done all!
