19/08/2014 - Tywyn/Cheddar Gorge/Belper 30k![]() Ivanhoe Runners took on some particularly tough challenges this weekend. On Saturday 15th August Alistair Chambers ran the 14 mile all-terrain “Race the Train” event in Tywyn, Wales and in an exellent performance managed to beat the steam train to the finish line, crossing in 1:42:34 in 107th place. On Sunday Nick Teige and Barry Alldread chose the incredibly tough Cheddar Gorge Marathon which was over 27 miles cross country over steep hills and challenging terrain. They finished in 48th and 49th places in 5 hours 27 minutes. Incredibly this is the first of ten marathons planned for Nick over ten consecutive weeks as he sets out to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. Closer to home four Ivanhoe Runners took part in the Annual Belper Rugby Rover 30k, yet another tough cross country event which is becoming a favourite in the club calendar. First home with a great run was Martin Yeomans in 2 hours 52 mins with Rosie Dear close behind in 2:55 followed by endurance specialists Tim Sturla and Ian Kirk who finished just over the 3 hour mark, well done to all.
