Race results

So somehow we all blinked and two LRRL races have already been ticked off the calendar? The hilly Kibworth 6 was a great Mothers Day treat if that’s what you’re into for fun, starting with the Saddington climb, the Gumley monster followed by the final sting in the last mile as you charge for home.

It was all systems go when entries were released, with 18 from the team getting lucky with their fast fingers to match their speedy legs. Paul Woods was first back and in 47th place overall in 37:44, Andrew Stanley next in 40:40 making it into the top 100, and James Cox followed in 41:31, all respectively close to their PB times on a tough course.

Andy Hough put his first 6 miler of recent times on the board in 43:25, with Mark Bradford next over the line in 45:55, all five runners making it to both of the LRRL races this season. Mark Hoult currently making a fine return to racing was next in 46:21, and Mindy Ashton was our first female runner to make the timing mat in 46:50, a bronze placing in her age category too.

Laura Graves had a brilliant outing with both a diamond county standard time secured and winning her age category in 47:34, and it was Kev Laz on her tail finishing just three seconds behind. Vic Smith enjoyed more race atmosphere in her build towards London marathon in 49:25, and Martin Yeomans was next to complete the run in 50:16.

Alex Gillon brought back the one personal best of the day, knocking more than a minute off her Worthington time last year in 50:24 as she ramps up the Brighton marathon training. It was 51:42 on the clock for Paul Averillo, and for Carolyn Osborne it was 53:59.

Sally Jeyes  was another superstar to successfully top her age category in 57:27 and Captain Gemma Shaw was very chuffed with her run despite feeling under the weather, coming home in 54:49. Jeff Cross was another fabulous debutant finishing in 1:02 and it was no surprise to find Julie Henfrey out on course another LRRL in the bank with a finish time of 1:23.
