15/07/2022 - parkrunday!

Put your feet up and settle in for all your parkrunday updates from last weekend. Over at Conkers, 24 Ivanhoe joined the 334 other runners for the run on the trails. Tom Potter led the troops towards their post-run breakfast, picking up the number two token in 18:41. First female finisher for the club was Sandra Lawless, finishing 5th overall in 25:11. Jordan Cope nailed an overall 5K PB this week in a fabulous 20:42, taking a huge 41 seconds off his previous best from August 2018.

Our biggest contingent of tourers this week road tripped to Nottinghamshire’s Bestwood Village, Chris Osborne describing the hilly course as ‘magical’ despite its challenging nature. He was joined by Laura, Ken, Mindy and Carolyn. Mike, Bec and Ruth were by the seaside and opted for the notoriously tough Woolacombe Dunes parkrun, Ruth finishing in 6th female and Bec just outside the top 10 in 11th.

Also making the most of being away, Andy and Sally ran at Tullow parkrun in Ireland, both topping their age categories and running the best age graded scores, with Sally running a record time for her age category securing her place on another table with 27:18.

Kevin and Judith popped to one of the newer parkruns within an hour or so of Ashby, Ashbourne Rec Ground, where Judith also ran the best age grade of the morning. 18 Ivanhoes have now ran at this one, joint top on the leaderboard (with South Derbyshire and Shelton Striders) of most members running at it. We sure do enjoy our tourism.

Emily & Mark went back to school, hopping down the road to Hastings High parkrun, whilst Jane and Damon went to Itchen Valley Country parkrun, the only Ivanhoes to have added this one to their list.

Fiona McKean visited Keswick parkrun for the first time for her 10th different venue. Alex Gillon ran at Lanhydrock, her first time on tour to another parkrun away from Conkers. Visiting their local events were Amy Sanders at Sutton Park and Bob White at Newark.

A big thanks to our local high vis heroes this week, Andrea Allen and Pippa David at Conkers 5K, and over at Swadlincote Junior parkrun, Ken helped out with timing, whilst Chris, Emily, Kevin and Judith marshalled out on the 2 lap course.
