17/04/2022 - Run Forest Run & GB reps

Three more races to bring you from last weekend, so where was the rest of the excitement at?

@runthroughuk have been expanding their Midlands offering and Heather Gilbert used their Cannock Chase HM to bank some long miles, coming away with a PB, an amazing feat round the challenging four laps in 2:12:36.

Much blue could be found on the trails with thanks to @southderbyshireroadrunners for staging the popular Run in the Forest 5. Leading the way was Mark Parker in 4th place, a PB by 1:53 in 28:40. Next in was Ramzi Sidani topping his age group, hot on his heels was Shaun Coulton, just five seconds between them, and Matt Pleass completed our first five.

A healthy contingent of chaps stormed in behind; Paul Woods, James Cox, Louis Barnes, Tom Smith, Mark Bradford, Ian Kirk & Andrew Bottrill. Emily Partridge was first female back for Ivanhoe in 6th place overall, and had Amelia Monaghan hunting her down, scoring herself a marvelous 5:01 PB. Martin Yeomans was next, 10 seconds ahead of Vic Smith, followed in quick succession by Bec Sharpe.

Georgie Smith made her debut having secured her membership earlier that week and did a stirling job in 39:23. Suzy Parish should be very proud after beating her previous best from 2017s Worthington 5 by 2:52, followed by Chris Osborne who had already been up and at ‘em volunteering at Swad Junior parkrun.

Carolyn Osborne was in shortly after, rewarded with an age category win. Linsday Tilbury finished next, and Rob Slack just 4 seconds behind earned a 15s PB. Nancy Bennion was next, followed by another PB from Paul Averillo who knocked 1:14 off his time from last years Tamworth 5.

Six fabulous ladies rounded off an awesome outing, with super runs from Sarah Malone, Judy Mouncer, Christine Ridley, Lucy Allsop, Sally Jeyes, another star to win her age category, and Jess Southwart.

In blue of a different shade (GBR kit adorned with their surnames) were two of our amazing multi-sport athletes completing at the European Middle Distance Duathlon age group event. Ruth Enion & Nick Rowles waited two years to compete in Alsdorf, Germany, an emotional and extremely rewarding occasion and we are chuffed to bits for both of you.
