09/04/2022 - Spring marathon fever!

📢 Marathon fever is well and truly here! ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

Runners joined together for a social evening on Friday 1st April to get into the spirit and wish each other well on their way, and less than 48 hours later they were over those starting lines.

7️⃣ Ivanhoes kicked us off in tremendous style, and we begin in Manchester where conditions were bright with a gentle breeze for the 26.2. First home was James Wyatt in a phenomenal 2:38:58 in 191th position and claiming the club course record. Ramzi Sidani followed in next in a superb time under 3 hours, in 2:57:28 appearing to smile his way round the entire course. Mark Harriott was out in his first claim yellow club vest but we couldn’t not give him a mention for his amazing finish in 3:08:37, being very appreciative of the support out on the route.

Superstar Clare Wood ran an absolute scorcher in 3:39:11, earning herself not only a 7 minute and 11 second personal best, but also a fantastic Boston qualifying time. Marathon man Ian Kirk took the Ashby 20 gorilla out for company, supporting him to a hairy personal best in 4:24:11. Tim Sturla who has also racked up an amazing amount of long distance runs in his time completed our Manchester team, finishing the run in a brilliant 4:30:17.

🇫🇷 Two runners were representing at Paris marathon and didn’t half do us proud. Alastair Burgwin secured that elusive sub 3 hour time on the French roads in an exceptional 2:59:19, a personal best by 3 minutes 8 seconds, and was joined on the PB train by Matt Brocklehurst knocking 58 seconds off his last best time in an epic 3:13:44.

We are super proud of our runners really setting the standard for marathon running, which regardless of time, is in incredible feat. Congratulations to all of you heroes for getting to the end of your training and nailing that final victory lap! 🏅
