11/03/2022 - XC, St Helens, & more

Another busy weekend of racing swept us along last weekend, with lots to tell you about! We’ll start at Bosworth Battlefield where 15 hardy sky blues were out in force representing for the final race of the league. Big kudos to Grania Towle, Ramzi Sidani, Lucy Allsop, Damon Bland, Teresa Talbott, Mark Bradford, Christine Ridley, Martin Yeomans, Jill Singleton, Julian Rawlings, Victoria Smith, Paul Averillo, Sandra Lawless, Fiona Betts, and Mindy Ashton for their awesome efforts on the muddy course!

We are super lucky that our XC races are club funded and to have hot drinks and cakes waiting at the end in our gazebo. A massive thank you to Fiona Betts and Martin Yeomans for their hard work this season, getting us motivated, organised and in the muddy spirit!

Next up, a big shoutout to Amelia Willden who took on the St Helens 10K and smashed out a incredible two minute personal best time, finishing in 45:55, for 16th female and 6th in her age category! A massive well done to Amelia, especially given challenging work commitments lately and juggling her new committee role as Secretary. You are a champ!

In Cambridge, Mark Parker and Emily Partridge completed the Cambridge half marathon, a flat, fast course attracting some seriously speedy talent. Mark obliterated his previous personal best time, finishing in 1:16:56, an improvement of over three minutes, which would you believe had him finish in 116th place! Emily ran 1:49:10 for her 30th half marathon race and was happy to squeeze under 1:50.

Going even longer this weekend was resident marathon man Ian Kirk. Adding another 26.2 to his growing list, he completed the Groundhog marathon in 3:59:28. This 105.5 lap course (yes you read that right) cam with music, chip timing, and a drinks station every lap. You guessed it! It was on a running track! Insane. Hats off to you Ian on another fabulous sub 4.
