Alistair Chambers at Derby 10m.                                     Amanda, Teresa and Heather at Seagrave.

Seagrave team.

On the road, there was a strong Ivanhoe Runners presence at the Derby 10 mile race from Pride Park. First home for the club was inevitably stalwart Alistair Chambers, finishing 21st overall and first in his age category with 1.02.30. New member Adam Hoult was next home, in a brilliant 27th in 1.04.03, just ahead of Mark Parker 55th in 1.06.44. Mark's excellent time was also a new personal best for him over 10 miles. Andrew Stanley had a good run for 118th in 1.11.00, just ahead of Patrick Horn who set another personal best time with 1.11.16 for the ten miles. The first four Ivanhoe men home were also credited with being the third men's team, great running in a huge field of over 1200 runners and only missing second team by about a minute!

Tim Moore ran 1.17.28 in 223rd before the first lady home for Ivanhoe, Marie Concannon, finished in 1.29.37 to claim an excellent new personal best. Two runners finished together with Karl Smith in 671st and Gemma Shaw in 672nd, Karl being timed at 1.34.28 while Gemma was one second quicker on chip time! Charlene Withall was next back, 825th in 1.39.59, with a gap to Diane Brocklesby 1.53.06 in 1109th. Finally another two Ivanhoe Runners came in together with Marie Miller 1174th and Kim Harris 1175th, both clocking 2.00.21 and both making their debut over 10 miles.

Elsewhere, Emily Wideman picked up another personal best as she clocked 1.39.14 in the Tatton Park half marathon, and Tor Leigh won her age category in the muddy Coalville 10k, clocking 56.27.

Saturday saw ten Ivanhoe Runners do the popular Seagrave Challenge, popular mainly because of the tea drinking and cake eating en-route. On a 16 mile route that changes every year, this year saw the route take in Burton on the Wolds, Wymeswold and Prestwold Hall. First back were the trio of Ian Kirk, Alan Edwards and Richard Bebbington in 2 hours 46 minutes, followed at just under the three hour mark by Andrea Trickett and Julie Taylor. Coming in around the 3 hour 30 mark were Heather Swan, Amanda Bradbury and Teresa Talbott. Karen Edwards and Grania Towle ran together and finished just outside 4 hours.
