12/11/2017 - Prestwold DRL XC

The second fixture of the Derby Runner cross-country league for Ivanhoe Runners was at a new venue based on Prestwold Hall, and was a very different run than most of these fixtures being just over 6.5 miles long and faster going.

In very cold condition, Ramzi Sidani led the blues home in 23rd place, followed by Craig Hinds in 39th. George Loveday had another impressive run for the club making 50th position, while Alastair Burgwin was 65th, Ian Bolton 72nd fresh from his club "Train Race" success on Friday, and men's captain Nick Rowles 92nd. Matt Brocklehurst was 96th, and capably completing the scoring men's eight was men's cross-country skipper Martin Yeomans in 184th.

Another nine men scored well to push the opposition scorers back. Andy Jeyes continues to cheat father time as he finished next in 196th, just ahead of Pav Mazur 198th and cross-country regular Ian Potter 203rd. Alex Dutton was 223rd, and Chris Finney was 255th as he continues his rejuvenation, just holding off Damon Bland 256th and still grinning from securing one of the club's London Marathon places for 2018. Mark Hoult was 271st, Andrew Botterill 286th and Richard Trevelyan 296th to complete the men's team.

The womens team were again led home by the superb Eliza McDermott, finishing an excellent 4th. Rosie Dear was 46th, Lucy McDermott 47th and Lucy Arkinstall 57th to complete the scorers. Backing them superbly was women's club captain Victoria Smith in 70th, followed by Carolyn Osborne 81st, Sarah Malone 128th, and women's cross-country captain Teresa Talbott 138th - showing no ill effects from 16 miles the day before! Helen Finn was 149th, Lucy Allsop 154th as she kicks off her London Marathon training, Fiona Spiers 200th and Chrissy Betteridge 201st.
