30/07/2017 - Blithfield Tri, London100, pkrun

With no league events or race last weekend most Ivanhoe Runners took the opportunity to brush up on some training miles, although a few tried alternative events.

Four club members took part in the Blithfield Triathlon, involving a 1,500 metre open-water swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run. Second-claimed Chris Trzcinski was first home for Ivanhoe in 71st place in 2.39.39, followed by Karen Bell 120th in 2.59.03. Newcomers to triathlon, Andy Lindley and Martin Yeomans, were 140th and 149th respectively, Andy clocking 3.06.48 having a strong ride and run after a poor swim, and Martin clocked 3.14.15.

Sticking to the bike only, Bob White and Kevin Sanders did the Prudential Ride London 100, a mass participation cycle sportive on closed roads in London and Surrey. Bob returned to the event he had done before and clocked a swift 5.30.12 overall, his fastest time for the 100 mile distance, while for Kevin it was his first ride over 80 miles, and he was very pleased to clock 6.25.26 overall.

Some Ivanhoe Runners did run parkrun on the Saturday, with Richard Martin leading 22 Ivanhoe Conkers regulars home with 4th place and 19.01, while Rosie Dear clocked a 22.39 personal best as 4th lady. Other Ivanhoe Runners did parkrun "touring" at Newark (Kevin Sanders), Sewerby (Ramzi Sidani), Mansfield (Emily Partridge), Long Eaton (Alistair Chambers), Druridge Bay (Christine Ridley), Holkham (Amy Derbyshire), and Poolsbrook (Andy and Sally Jeyes).
