24/07/2017 - Outlaw Ironman, Conkers parkrun

Ian Kirk put his long-distance running experience to use in his debut Ironman triathlon, the Outlaw Ironman based at Holme Pierrepoint in Nottingham. Ian posted a stunning debut time of 12.18.50, after a great swim, personal best ride time for the distance and a strong run, and joins Ivanhoe's elite few who have completed a full ironman triathlon.

Conkers parkrun is always popular with Ivanhoe Runners taking part, but this week the ladies section for Ivanhoe provided all the organisation for the event including marshals, timekeepers, scanners, token issuers etc. With 494 finishers due to boosted numbers from the nearby Thunder Run. the team did a great job with no hiccups. Inspired by this, Phil Stevenson and Nick Rowles posted their highest ever placings of third and sixth respectively, while Karen Bell achieved her first ever first lady to finish placing.
