A massive 44 Ivanhoe Runners filled a big chunk of the 211 finishers in the Worthington 5 mile race, an event that Ivanhoe Runners host as part of the Burton and District Summer league. Run on the Cloud Trail to avoid roads, it is a popular event and for many of the Ivanhoe's running it was their debut or club debut at 5 miles. With damp conditions perfect for running, there were a host of personal bests also set.

First home and setting a 5 mile personal best in Ivanhoe colours was Craig Hinds, 12th in 29.53. he was three places ahead of Matt Pleass 15th in 30.32, and less than a minute later Mark Parker 25th in 31.24. Phil Stevenson ran 31.45 in 28th, chased by Karl Wideman in his club 5 mile debut just one place and one second back - 29th in 31.46. Louis Barnes set a new personal best, 32.44, in 42nd place, and of Andrew Jones making his club debut, 52nd in 33.46.

Patrick Horn was another personal bester, 34.03 good enough for 57th place, ahead of Andy Lindley 62nd in 34.21 and Pav Mazur setting a new personal
best, 64th in 34.29. Martin Yeomans was 72nd in 35.03, just one place ahead of Mark Bradford 73rd in 35.04, while a club debut over five miles for Richard Fernandez saw him home in 76th place in 35.16. Alex Dutton clocked 36.28 in 85th on his debut, just ahead of first Ivanhoe lady home, Emily Wideman who clocked a swift 36.36 to finish 7th lady, with Lucy McDermott 8th lady in 36.53, a new PB by 46 seconds. Between them Simon Hill set a new personal best, knocking 53 seconds off his previous best as he clocked 36.45 in 88th position.

Karen Bell had an excellent run to finish first vet45 in 37.12 (10th lady) , followed by a flier from ladies captain Victoria Smith who set a new PB time of 37.18 (11th lady). Karl Smith was next Ivanhoe home, 37.31 in 97th place on his five mile debut. Andrea Trickett set a new PB as she clocked 37.42, followed by Karen Hartland 38.27. Mark Eydman ran 38.46 in 113th, followed by Richard Trevelyan running 39.38 in his first race for Ivanhoe. Ruth Cousin gained a personal best as she clocked 40.12, followed home by Laura Collier 41.07, Carolyn Osborne 41.30 and Jez Millington-Pipe on his five mile debut in 42.20. Suzy Parish set a new personal best as she was timed at 42.38, and she was followed by three runners making their Worthington debuts - Helen Finn, with 43.25 making her fist vet 55, Charlene Withall in 46.17 and Gemma Shaw 46.18.

Grania Towle warmed up for this weeks 24 hour Thunder Run with a swift 5 miles in 48.28, ahead of Ilza Reinke 50.37. The next four Ivanhoe Runners home were all making their debuts at five miles and some in club colours, with Jessica Southwart 51.36, Rachel Newham 52.02, Janet Joyce 53.24 and Jayne Bradshaw 55.02. Marie Miller clocked 55.59, Julie Henfrey 57.51, Kay Gosling 58.20 and Michelle Morre on her debut 58.24 to bring all the Ivanhoe Runners home under the hour mark.

In the Tara Kinder 10k, the first to Ivanhoe Runners home both set new personal bests for the distance in Ivanhoe colours. Matt Pleass had a great run to finish 12th in 36.58 while Craig Hinds was just behind in 13th with 37.07, both new best times. Alistair Chambers was 23rd in 38.26, while Karl Wideman set a new PB in 32nd with 38.59. Richard Martin was next home, 40th in 39.46, before the two Karen's, Bell and Hartland, both had really good runs - Karen Bell running her fastest 10k for some years in clocking 45.18, and setting an Ivanhoe ladies course record in the process, and Karen Hartland setting a new personal best with 47.20. Katie Fox ran 1.07.48, and she was followed home by Helen Brandon and Kev Wright both clocking around 1.10.54, and Michelle Moore 1.15.53.

In the Brooksies Bash Trail ten mile race, Phil Stevenson led a small Ivanhoe Runners contingent home as he finish a fine 9th in 1.10.39. Karen Bell was next home, 11th lady in 1.28.30, hotly pursued by Victoria Smith 1.29.41 and Ingrid Stevenson 1.30.24. Carolyn Osborne ran 1.35.10, followed by Helen finn 1.50.13 and Grania Towle 1.52.29.

Andy Lindley had a productive week with three races, the Worthington 5, followed by the West End Windmill 5 mile fell race where he was 39th in 42.34 and the Crich Monument Race where he was 58th in 57.01 for the approximately 7 mile very hilly course. Also enduring hills was Simon Hill, running the Wycombe half marathon in 1.54.28 on a very undulating route. Finally, Helen Finn ran 48.11 for the JCB Lakeside 5, to round off a very busy week for Ivanhoe runners.
