26/06/2017 - Tamworth Gate Gallop, others

The Tamworth Gate Gallop 10k off-road race is a popular event with Ivanhoe Runners, as well as being a "counter" in the Burton and District Summer League, and both the men's and women's teams performed well against tough opposition.

Leading the Ivanhoe men home was Ramzi Sidani, finishing an excellent 9th in 38.14, less than a minute ahead of Craig Hinds 15th in 39.10. Also in the top twenty were Matt Pleass 16th in 39.19 and Alistair Chambers 17th in 39.42, also claiming the second vet50 slot. Nick Rowles, men's captain, was next home in 31st in 41.44, five places ahead of Louis Barnes 36th in 42.19.

Close packing then saw Patrick Horn finish 54th in 45.31, closely pursued by Mark Bradford 57th (45.36), Andy Jeyes 61st (46.08), and Martin Yeomans 67th (46.48). Ivanhoe's first lady home was Lucy McDermott, having a great run to clock 48.14 in 76th, and finishing 3rd vet35. Lucy Arkinstall was next home, 85th in 49.18, ahead of Andy Lindley and Victoria Smith, 88th and 89th in 49.26 and 49.25. Victoria was also 3rd vet45. Andrea Trickett was fourth Ivanhoe lady home, timed at 50.24 in 97th, ahead of Karen Hartland 52.57 (125th). Helen Finn ran well to finish 2nd vet45 in 58.10, the last Ivanhoe to break the hour mark.

Grania Towle was next home, in 1.03.30 (221st), followed by Mo Danvers in 1.06.51 (246th), Kay Gosling 1.15.49 (298th), Michelle Moore 1.18.25 (305th) and Julie Henfrey 1.21.12 (316th).

In the Hayley's Cancer fight 10k Tim Moore set a new personal best as he clocked 47.57. Ruth Cousin ran her fourth Torbay half marathon and clocked 1.56.07, a good time given her mountain running exploits recently, while Teresa Talbott ran the Great Bakewell Pudding fell race over 10.6k and clocked a swift 1.02.29 for the tough course.
