18/06/2017 - Prestwold, MK m, Notts 10, B'con

Record temperatures over the weekend made any race a battle of survival, and the six hardy souls who ran the Prestwold 10k on Sunday certainly suffered in the heat. Clare Fowell led the Ivanhoe contingent home, finishing 11th lady overall and picking up the first vet40 prize as she clocked 46.05. Patrick Horn was next in 47.04 in 91st place, followed by Richard Bebbington 140th in 51.02 and Jason Green 143rd in 51.22. Karen Hartland had had enough by the 5k mark after the opening laps across the exposed airfield, but battled gamely on to finish in 1.04.24 running with a friend. Also helping a friend round was Ange Bebbington who clocked 1.10.03. Kay Gosling ran 1.20.31.

With the heat, running a marathon was not a great idea, especially a seven-lap one, but Ian Kirk did the Milton Keynes Enigma marathon where his time of 4.21 placed him around the top ten.  Doing a half-marathon on a very tough hilly course at Coed Y Brenin in Wales was Teresa Talbot. She dug in to record a very respectable 2.33.03.

Andy Lindley took part in the Notts 10 and clocked 1.14.00 which he was disappointed with, after a fast first five then saw him struggle with hamstrings to the finish.

In the Beacon Hill Solstice run Becca Hobbs ran 40.47. Grania Towle ran the Rothley 10, while Chris and Carolyn Osborne ran the Tamworth Decathlon Events 5k, together with Dave Walker.
