14/06/2017 - Washlands Relays - BDSL


A massive 62 Ivanhoe Runners - probably a Club record - took part in the Washlands Relays, a Burton and District Summer League race held in Burton on Wednesday night. They made up men's teams of four, mixed teams of four or women's teams of three who contested the 2 mile fast and flat legs.

The first men's Ivanhoe team home were the "Ivanhoe M2" team of Matt Pleass (11.39), Mark Parker (11.49), Ian Bolton (12.40) and Alastair Burgwin (12.52) wit a total time of 49.00 placing them 5th on the night. Matt and Mark were also the fastest and second fastest Ivanhoe Runners on the night. They were chased home by "Ivanhoe M1" in 49.43, with the team comprising Ramzi Sidani on leg one (12.07), Craig Hinds (11.59, third quickest Ivanhoe Runner on the night), Richard Martin 13.14 and Matt Brocklehurst (12.23). Ivanhoe M3 were 8th team home in 51.11, with Karl Wideman (12.28), Gez Eivors (12.46), Nick Rowles (12.46) and Tom Smith (13.11).

Ivanhoe M4 were 16th home, with Karl Smith (13.50), Louis Barnes (13.14), Patrick Horn (13.35) and Mark Bradford (13.59) totalling 54.38. Ivanhoe M5 were 20th in 55.37 with Kev Brown (14.04), Andy Jeyes (14.30), Andy Lindley (14.08) and Andrew Stanley (12.55). Ivanhoe M6 were led home by Tim Moore with 15.27, followed by Richard Bebbington (14.49), Jason Green (14.51) and Simon Hill (14.54) to finish with 1.00.01 in 27th place.

Ivanhoe's mixed team were next home in 34th (and 7th mixed team) led by Martin Rowse (14.07), Tom Smith in his first run of two on the night, in 15.58, Ilze Reinke (19.23) and Craig Hinds in his second run of the night in 12.13. They clocked 1.01.41 overall. Ivanhoe M7 were 39th in 1.03.42, with Damon Bland (19.07), Shane Stanton (15.44), Chris Trzcinski (14.41) and Martin Yeomans (14.10).

The ladies teams did well with Ivanhoe L11 coming home 5th team in 44.40, led off by Emily Wideman (14.01) - who was Ivanhoe's fastest lady on the night, Lucy McDermott (15.05) and Karen Bell in her second run of the night, (15.34). Ivanhoe L1 were one place behind them, in 6th in 45.11, with Karen Bell (15.01), Tracey Powell (14.52) - Ivanhoe's second fastest lady on the night - and Andrea Trickett (15.18). Ivanhoe L2 were 8th in 46.50 with Emily Partridge (15.34), Sophie Cooper (15.47) and Karen Hartland (15.29). Ivanhoe L3 were next home in 9th in 48.05 with captain Victoria Smith (15.13), Carolyn Osborne (16.13) and Suzi Beale Parish (16.39).

There was a gap then before Ivanhoe L6 came home in 19th (52.22) with Ruth Green (17.01), Sarah Malone (16.33) and Jenny Hope (18.48). They were less than a minute ahead of Ivanhoe L5, 22nd in 53.10 with Ange Bebington (16.11), Grania Towle (19.14) and Sandra Lawless (17.45). Ivanhoe L8 were 30th, in 56.21 with Amy Derbyshire (16.43), Helen Finn (17.44) and Rebecca Randall (21.54), They were just 17 seconds ahead of Ivanhoe L9 in 31st place with Marie Concannon (18.18), Julie Henfrey (22.25) and Tor Meadow Evans (15.55).

Ivanhoe L7 were led off by Jane Bland who clocked 20 minutes exactly, followed by Mo Danvers (19.34) and Lucy Allsop (18.00), clocking 57.34 to finish 33rd. Finally the Ivanhoe L10 team clocked 1.05.19 with Marie Miller (21.20), Michelle Moore (23.15) and Jane Connell (20.34).

So, a massive turnout for the Club that will see them continue to strongly contest the BDSL.
