13/06/2017 - Race to Tower, Heanor.. etc

With no league races this weekend Ivanhoe runners were still busy competing in various events over the country, running distances from 5k to 53 miles, with others competing in Triathlon.

On Friday, husband and wife team Tim and Michelle Moore ran at the Heanor Midsummer running festival, with Michelle taking on the 5k in a time of 36:03 and Tim running the 10k race at 48:42

On Saturday, several Ivanhoe were running at Conkers Parkrun as Phil Stevenson celebrated his 100th Parkrun, donning the now traditional Centurion outfit! There were new personal best times over this 5k distance for Jenny Hope, Lisa Gammon and newcomer Jayne Bradshaw, with Alicia Sharman running her debut parkrun at Rosliston.

Also on Saturday, Mark Parker ran the Wollaton Park 10k finishing in an excellent 9th place in a time of 41 minutes 6 seconds.

On Sunday, Ramzi Sidani and Alistair Burgwin completed the Race to the Tower Ultra marathon on the beautiful but but hilly Cotswold Way. Ramzi had a great run on the tough 53 mile course finishing in 4th place in a time of 10 hours 3 minutes. Alistair smashed his debut Ultra in 11 hours 20 minutes, clocking 29th place out of a field of over 300.

Meanwhile at the Potters 'arf, a half marathon in Stoke, Dave Hobbs did well to finish in 1:30:05. Patrick Horne came in next in1:42:20 after battling with heartbreak hill at mile 11.

Grania Towle had an enjoyable run at the scenic Two Castles 10k, starting at Warwick Castle and finishing in the grounds of Kenilworth Castle, coming in at 1 hour and 19 seconds.
