30/04/2017 - Uttoxeter half - BDSL

Race results

The Bank Holiday weekend saw Ivanhoe Runners in action in several races. League action continued with the tough Uttoxeter half marathon, a favourite of some despite the hilly course. Both the men's and women's teams performed brilliantly, with the men claiming the top spot in the Burton Summer League results and the ladies claiming third spot, both impressive given theholdiay weekend and other races clashing.

Seventeen Ivanhoe Runners took part, with Ramzi Sidani leading them home after a brilliant London Marathon, his distance training paying off as he clocked 1.22.24 to finish a brilliant 6th and won a prize for first vet40. Matt Pleass ran a fine 1.26.18 for a PB and 16th place, while also in the prizes was Craig Hinds, finishing 23rd in 1.27.10 and claiming the second vet45 prize.

Matt Brocklehurst set a new personal best time of 1.29.06, shaving 12 seconds off his previous best, as he finished 31st, ahead of Alastair Burgwin 37th in 1.30.18. Andy Lindley was pleased with 1.36.50 in 73rd place, ahead of Patrick Horn, who set a new personal best with 1.38.33 in 83rd place, remarkably a PB by over 2 minutes on the tough course. Mark Bradford was 109th in 1.45.07, followed by leading Ivanhoe lady Rosie Dear who had a strong run for 1.45.42 and a prize as 3rd vet45.

The training partners Martin Rowse and Kevin Brown were not far apart as Martin was 120th in 1.46.15 and Kevin just behind in 125th in 1.46.48. Less than a minute later Karen Hartland came home as second Ivanhoe lady, clocking 1.49.32, just ahead of third lady and captain Victoria Smith 1.51.01. Damon Bland ran 1.54.38, while Ruth Green made an impressive return to racing with 2.03.23. Lucy Allsop ran her longest race for a long time as she clocked 2.10.33. Jez Millington-Pipe ran 2.11.44 to complete the line-up.
