09/10/2016 - Petzl, Derby and Royal Prks 1/2

Race results

Another busy weekend but without any league action saw Ivanhoe Runners try different races around the country.

Locally, four Ivanhoe Runners took part in the Derby City half marathon with some success. Alistair Chambers blasted round in 1.24.23 to finish a brilliant 9th overall and first vet50, while Ian Kirk set a new personal best by clocking 1.32.46 to knock more than 3 minutes off his previous best. Andy Lindley was very pleased with his 1.34.31, and not to be outdone Ivanhoe's sole female entrant Karen Bell finished a brilliant 6th lady in 1.42.09.

Over in Wales, four Ivanhoe Runners took on the brutal Petzl Night Trail Race. Running as many 2 mile laps in three hours as possible, Phil Stevenson ran the solo class and impressed by finishing 10th with ten tricky laps completed in the three hours. The team of Ingrid Stevenson, and Simon and Sarah Terry ran in the relay and competed 11 laps to place an excellent 4th in the mixed team class.

In London, two Ivanhoe Runners took part in the huge Royal Parks Half marathon. Ian Bolton made it more difficult by running in Super Mario costume to raise money for charity, but still clocked an impressive 1.31.20. Amy Sanders was raising money for the British Lung Foundation and ran a pleasing 2.03.32.
