Race results


The final round of the Burton and District summer series climaxed with the Tamworth Five on Sunday. In unseasonably hot weather which did not suit many of the runners, the Ivanhoe Runners squad had a great day with Craig Hinds, Ramzi Sidani and Ian Bolton picking up the men's team prize, Craig finishing first vet 40 and Lynda Revill winning her age category. And, the performance of the women's team meant that they should have secured top spot in the League, a tremendous achievement.

First home for the Club in a splendid 8th place and first vet40 was Craig Hinds in 30.22, just ahead of Ramzi Sidani 11th in 30.36 and Ian Bolton 12th in 30.45. Just behind was Matt Brocklehurst 15th in 30.50, followed by Dave Hobbs 21st in 31.27. Simon Terry was next home, 26th in 32.38, followed by Louis Barnes who had a great race to set a new personal best time of 33.17 in 31st place.

Close packing saw James Cox finish 35th in 34.03, just ahead of Andy Lindley 36th in 34.23 and Patrick Horn 38th in 34.45. They just held off Ivanhoe's first lady home, Sarah Terry clocking an impressive 35.14  to finish 6th lady overall. She just pipped Martin Yeomans who was 1 second behind to finish 41st.

Kevin Brown was 44th in 35.49, ahead of Matt Joyce who set a new personal best time of 36.12 in 48th place. Damon Bland was 49th in 36.27, just ahead of Martin Rowse 51st in 36.36, followed by Richard Bebbington who was 55th in 37.14, Ivanhoe's second lady finisher was Karen Hartland, who was 11th lady in 39.16, just ten seconds ahead of Laura Collier 14th and brilliantly setting a new personal best time by 35 seconds, timed at 39.26. She was just ahead of ladies captain Victoria Smith who ran 39.35 to finish 15th, ahead of Lynda Revill who won her age group in clocking 40.12 in 19th place. Amanda Bradbury as next home, in 27th in 41.51, followed by Carolyn Osborne 29th in 42.07, Helen Horn 30th in the same time, and Lindsay Tilbury 33rd in 52.50.

Pete Graves made his race debut for Ivanhoe Runners and ran a polished race. clocking 43.39 on his debut. Lucy Allsop was next home in 46th in 45.24, ahead of Heather Swan and Laura Graves running together, finishing 48th and 49th in the same time of 45.31; this was especially pleasing for Laura who has been out for most of the season with injury. Helen Smith ran 48.01 to finish 56th, a minute clear of Grania Towle who was 60th in 49.04.

The strong ladies team performance continued with Maxine Brown clocking 53.21 in 65th, followed by Sam Toon 67th in 54.29 and Helen Brandon 68th in 55.27. Andy Pole made a rare race appearance and was rewarded with 88th place in 58.18, and Julie Henfrey was 71st in 1.01.53.
