The Burton and District Summer League continued with the Burton 10k. Again, Craig Hinds led the team home finishing a brilliant 12th overall in 38.48. Ian Bolton again followed him home, finishing 17th man in 39.24. Men’s captain Nick Rowles was next home, 24th male in 40.19 just ahead of Richard Martin 29th in 40.36. James Cubitt ran 43.00 in 44th, ahead of Martin Yeomans 53rd in 43.54 and Andy Jeyes 55th in 44.19 – he was also second vet60+.

Sarah Terry had a great run to finish 6th lady with 44.26, ahead of Matt Dumelow 47.52 (84th). Tracey Powell was 13th lady in 48.53, followed by David Walker (49.39) and Chris Finney  (49.41) in 96th and 98th. Karen Hartland finished 15th lady in 50.19, followed by ladies captain Victoria Smith 52.30 in 24th. Sarah Malone ran 53.27 (29th) and Fiona McKean 55.48 (36th), before Lucy Allsop continued her comeback by running 57.02 (42nd). Heather Swan did not enjoy the heat and clocked 58.31, while Kelly Finney was timed at 1.00.20 and Julie Henfrey at 1.15.32.

In the league, the men’s team finished third behind South Derbyshire and Hatton, and the women’s team finished an excellent second behind South Derbyshire. After seven races the men lie second in the league, 4 points ahead of Hatton and 5 points behind South Derbyshire. The ladies still sit top of the table, 6 points clear of South Derbyshire but will need to field a strong squad in the final race at Tamworth to seal overall victory.
