27/02/2016 - Belvoir Challenge

Race results

It was a hectic weekend for Ivanhoe Runners with athletes competing over seven races in three different countries and several venues in the UK.

First up on Saturday was the Belvoir Challenge, a tough cross-country event with courses over the full marathon distance and a shorter 15 mike event. Both events are very popular, with the routes changing each year but always being challenging with plenty of hills, although this year the mud was surprisingly not as bad as usual. Doing the “full distance” were Steve Rundell, finishing in 61st place in 4.10.53, Tim Sturla 84th in 4.26.41 and Karen Bell, 18th lady in 4.52.14.

Ivanhoe were out in force in the 15 mile event, many runners using it as a tough training run for a Spring marathon. Andy Jeyes showed he is on track for London with a great time of 2.10.33 to lead the squad home, in 35th place. Andrea Trickett was next home, and 52nd overall, in 2.56.16, before a large group that ran together for most of the race came home around the three hour mark. Ingrid Redmond led them in in 63rd in 3.00.23, followed by Emily Wideman 71st in 3.03.56, captain Victoria Smith 72nd in 3.03.59, Carolyn Osborne 73rd in 3.04.04 and Lindsay Tilbury 79th in 3.04.53. Another group that are marathon training together came in next, led by Heather Swan 88th in 3.10.45, Amanda Bradbury 89th in 3.10.47 and Teresa Talbott 91st in 3.10.49. Partners Simon Hall and Lisa Hughes clocked 3.18.45 and 3.18.47 while Sarah Sanganee loves this race and finished in 3.37.41.
