A trio of Ivanhoe Runners completed an incredibly difficult challenge this weekend when they each ran three full marathons in three consecutive days. First up for Ian Kirk, Tim Sturla and Martin Yeomans was the notoriously tough Beachy Head marathon on Saturday, a gruelling off-road marathon that takes on the famous Severn Sisters chalk cliffs and is recognised as one of the most demanding marathon courses in the country. Ian and Tim ran together and completed in an impressive 5 hours four minutes with Martin not far behind in 5:19. Event number two brought them closer to home as they took on the 26.2 miles of the Leicester marathon and despite tired legs the trio made it look easy with Tim and Ian completing in 4:16 and Martin in 4:45. Next stop for the heroic threesome was the Dublin Marathon on Monday where they lined up in the rain with 15,000 other competitors. Making it a total of 78.6 miles over three days, the boys accomplished their extraordinary achievement in some style with Ian and Tim finishing in 4:25 with Martin just a few minutes behind, leading to several well-earned pints of celebratory Guinness.

Also running the Leicester Marathon was Michael Trott, whose superb performance saw him finish a tremendous 7th place overall in 2:52:52. Also having an excellent run to smash his personal best time was Richard Martin, 27th in 3:05:18.  Super veteran Andy Jeyes lead the Ivanhoe contingent home in the Leicester half marathon finishing 167th in 1:32:38 ahead of a personal best performance from Matthew Joyce (291st in 1:39:19). Kevin Brown also beat his previous personal fastest time finishing 380th in 1:41:25. Sarah Malone ran her first ever half marathon and had an incredible race to finish 1049th in 1:56:50 ably supported by Damon Bland (1048th, 1:56:49). Elsewhere Steve Rundell and Karen Bell ran the Great South 10 mile run with Steve finishing in the very speedy time of 1:08:06 (465th) and Karen setting a new personal fastest time of 1:18:58 (2024th).
