18/10/2015 - Amsterdam Club trip

In Amsterdam, eight members took on the full marathon distance. Ian Bolton led Ivanhoe home in the great time of 3.06.30, just a couple of minutes outside his personal best. Blasting a new personal best was Andy Lindley, after serious training paid off he blazed round in 3.23.15, a new PB by over four minutes. Next home in his second marathon was Mark Eydman, running an excellent 3.44.21 just ahead of Andrea Trickett in her first race for Ivanhoe Runners, clocking 3.46.11. Ian Mortimer ran an excellent 3.47.16, the last Ivanhoe to crack four hours.  Karen Hartland enjoyed her run for 4.04.25, just a little outside her London time, ahead of Francesca Sinclair running 4.21.29. The Ivanhoe gorilla’s were both in action, having “steady” runs as they face three marathons on three days next weekend. So Tim Sturla and Ian Kirk both ran 4.30.31, Tim setting his gorilla PB and Ian making his gorilla marathon debut.

Also taking on three marathons in three days will be Martin Yeomans, but in Amsterdam he took on the half marathon and was rewarded with his fastest time for a while, clocking an excellent 1.30.19. He was just ahead of the machine Andy Jeyes, who smashed his own club v60 half marathon record by well over a minute with his time of 1.31.30. Jason Green broke his personal best, having a great run to clock 1.47.02, ahead of debut half marathoner Judy Edlin who ran a superb 1.54.16 the same time as pacer Peter Mouncer, who had not covered that distance for well over 20 years ! The last runner to sneak under the magic two hour mark was Michael Swan, shrugging off his growing pains to clock 1.57.24 at his first run over the distance.

A group came in together around the 2.15 mark pacing Mo Danvers to a new personal best time of 2.15.55, knocking 5 minutes off her previous best. Ruth Green in fetching fancy dress clocked 2.15.53, Heather Swan ran 2.15.54 and Kev Wright clocked 2.17.27. John Lewis was pleased to clock 2.34.58, while Angela Wheeler defied injury and illness to clock 2.42.17, Andy Pole ran 2.42.18 and Bob White had a nightmare return to a distance re last ran in the last century as an old injury flared up and reduced him to walk in with a time of 2.43.28.

In the 8k race, Sally Jeyes ran a very swift 41.43. Helen Horn sensibly dropped to the 8k after injury and ran 44.22, while new member Terri Eydman ran 56.59 just behind “guest” Loretta Kirk 52.13.
