With over 30 members overseas, the Club nevertheless fielded three teams successfully in the Midland Cross-Country relays at Uttoxeter. The men’s team came home 31st out of 38 teams in a tough competition, with all 5k two-lap legs seeing fast times. Steve Rundell led the team off and clocked 21.17, then Phil Stevenson ran 19.40 lifting the team two places. Men’s captain Nick Rowles picked up three places as he ran a blinding 19.45, before new recruit Craig Hinds ran a fine 19.29. The ladies A team were led off in fine form by Becca Hobbs, running 21.09 to leave Ivanhoe 11th out of 28 after leg 1. Zoe Allery (22.17) and Karen Bell (23.29) both ran strong legs to bring the team home a brilliant 13th out of the 28 teams. The ladies B team acquitted themselves well, with legs by Trish McPherson (28.29), Tracey Powell (23.33) and Victoria Smith (25.11) bringing the team home. All the Ivanhoe Runners avoided the stream crossing mishaps, with Victoria coming closest to an early bath!
