Race results

The Burton and District Summer League moved to Staffordshire for its second race of the year on Sunday, the Uttoxeter Half Marathon. Starting and finishing at the racecourse this is a particularly testing race taking in some stiff climbs along pretty rural lanes before a fast downhill finish. Warm sunny weather on the day added to the challenge but this didn’t deter the fifteen strong Ivanhoe Runners team. First home and smiling all the way round was Ramzi Sidani who finished an excellent 16th place in 1:22:53. Next home was Alistair Chambers impressing in 54th place (1:29:48) ahead of Kev Wright who had a great run to beat last year’s time finishing 72nd in 1:33:03. Andy Jeyes was next with yet another great performance bringing him home 2nd in age category and 83rd overall in 1:35:03 just ahead of Martin Yeomans who had a great run only a week after the Stratford marathon finishing 97th in 1:37:03. Andy Lindley found the going tough but battled well to finish next in 1:42:24 (124th). Next came Laura Graves with a strong finish bringing her home 2nd in age group and 25th lady (1:51:18, 195th overall). Amanda Bradbury was next with a very solid race, 31st lady in 1:54:08 just ahead of Ruth Green who enjoyed the course finishing 34th lady (226th overall) in 1:54:54 closely followed by Victoria Smith who celebrated her birthday by finishing in 1:55:36 (37th lady and 229th overall) . Carolyn Osborne was next,  44th lady and 240th overall in 1:57:38 ahead of Fiona McKean, 49th lady  (249th overall) in 1:59:23 and Karl Savill, 255th in 2:00:28. Teresa Talbott was using the race as ironman training and had a good run to finish in 2:04:33 (59th lady and 277th overall) with Heather Swan not far behind in 2:05:52 (63rd lady and 284th overall). Both men and ladies teams took 6th place in the overall team results and fared even better amongst the Burton and District Summer League teams with the men finishing  2nd behind Hatton Darts and the ladies third setting the club up well for the next race in this league, the Burton 10 on the 18th May.
