28/06/2015 - Gate Gallop 10k

Race results

This week saw the latest round in the Burton and District Summer League for Ivanhoe Runners who took a strong team to the Gate Gallop 10k race, a tough but interesting off road route organised by Peel Runners. Fastest for the team with a great run to bring him home in 6th place was Ramzi Sidani in 39:01 with Ian Bolton close behind, next in 10th place (39:47). Osian Flowers (17th, 41:44) and Alistair Chambers (18th, 41:55) were next both having fine races. The next group of men showed great team support as they encouraged each other with Andy Lindley 30th in 43:29, Steve Rundell 31st in 43:35, Martin Yeomans 32nd in 43:47 and Nick Rowles 33rd in  43:52. Simon Terry was next home for the club, 41st in 45:00 followed by Kev Wright (62nd in 47:04), Damon Bland (63rd in 47:01) and Richard Bebbington (78th in 48:43). Karen Bell was the fastest Ivanhoe lady with an excellent run (82nd in 49:00) followed by Laura Graves (111st in 51:08) and Victoria Smith (123rd in 51:54). Karen Hartland had another strong race (129th in 52:15) followed by Carolyn Osborne showing a great return to form (145th in 53:03). Ruth Green and Lucy Allsop finished together next (168th and 169th in 54:29 and 54:31), with a fantastic new personal 10k best time for Lucy, an amazing achievement given the tough off road course with queues for bridges and stiles. Teresa Talbott was next making light work of the terrain despite cycling to the start (194th in 56:09) followed by Angela Bebbington (225th in 59:19), John Lewis (285th in 1:04:11) and Julie Henfrey (368th in 1:18:50). On the day both men and ladies teams came third but the strong performances were enough to keep both teams at the top of the Burton and District League Tables.
