A strong team of Ivanhoe Runners took on the latest race in the Leicestershire Road Running League on Wednesday 5th August, the Joy Cann 5 organised by Huncote Harriers. Fastest for the club with a great run was Richard Martin who finished in 53nd place in 30:42 just ahead of Alistair Chambers who took the 4th vet 50 prize finishing 58th overall in 31:01. Dave Hobbs was next continuing his pleasing season (83rd, 32:07) ahead of a fine run by vet Steve Rundell (112th, 32:53).  Clare Fowell, in sensational form, took first prize in her category finishing 9th lady in a new personal best time of 33:19, seconds ahead of Andy Lindley, next (132nd, 33:37). Andy Jeyes finished strongly in 34:13 (144th) to take the 2nd vet60 prize closely followed by Becca Hallam an excellent 11th lady (145th overall, 34:15). Damon Bland smashed his personal fastest time crossing in 150th place in 34:24 with James Cubitt hot on his heels setting another new personal best of 34:46 (159th). Next came Kev Wright (206th, 36:01) ahead of ladies captain Laura Graves who took the 2nd vet50 prize (257th, 37:24). Karen Hartland had an excellent race to set a new personal best time of 38:08 (279th), followed by Anne Newbery (331st, 39:28) and Karen Bell (337th, 39:51). Lucy Allsop’s fine first season for the club continues as she set yet another personal best of 42:23 (416th) followed by supervet Sally Jeyes (427th, 42:38). Tracey Griffiths beat her previous 5 mile best by over two minutes as she finished next for the team (529th, 48:44) just in front of Maureen Danvers (535th, 49:08). Julie Henfrey’s hard work paid off as she took almost a minute of her previous best to complete the team in style (558th, 56:13).
