Race results


Sunday saw the latest round of the Leicestershire Road Racing Winter league, the Desford 6 mile race and once again there were some excellent performances from Ivanhoe Runners with a number of personal best times and some members making their race debut for the club. Fastest yet again was Ramzi Sidani who finished in 41st place in 36:34 ahead of Martin Yeomans who had a great race to come home in 101st place in 40:11. Clare Fowell was next with a fantastic run which saw her finish 2nd in category, 9th lady overall smashing her previous personal fastest time by 4 minutes as she crossed the line in 40:59, a new club record for her age category.

 

Simon Terry finished next, 134th in 41:17 ahead of Nick Lee-Smith, 161st in 42:00 and Dave Morse, 167th in 42:15. Andy Jeyes was next finishing 177th overall and 1st in age group in 43:00. Damon Bland and Richard Bebbington had a close fought battle next, Damon finishing 211th in 44:26 to Richard’s 44:37 (217th). Chris Finney had an excellent race to easily beat his previous personal best as he finished next in 44:51 (225th) closely followed by Kev Wright returning from injury, 227th in 44:57. Next came Julia Blewitt-Jenkins with a fantastic race, setting a new personal best time of 45:19 (34th lady and 243rd overall). Alan Edwards was next, 247th in 45:34 followed by new member Martin Rowse running his first ever race for Ivanhoe with a very pleasing 47:06 finish (273rd). Victoria Smith had a great run on the back of the previous day’s race crossing in 47:48 in 286th place ahead of chairman Kev Sanders, 302nd in 48:15. Carolyn Osborne was next, also racing for the second time over the weekend and finishing well in 49:07 (320th) ahead of another Ivanhoe debutant, Catherine Bradley who ran really well to complete in 49:25 (329th place). Karl Savill was next, 364th in 51:32 ahead of Amanda Bradbury who had run ten miles to get to the start line and finished very well in 52:25 (380th place). Sarah Malone had a great run, next in her first ever 6 mile race, 394th in 52:43 just beating Natasha Perkins who had a great first race for the club, 396th in 52:55 ahead of Heather Swan who also had a ten mile warm up as marathon training and still finished well next, 398th in 52:53. Next came three members running together, Lucy Allsop continuing her fantastic debut season next with another personal best time, 410th in 53:34 and well supported by Andy Lindley, 411th in 53:35 and Karen Hartland, 412th in 53:33. Angela Wheeler was next returning from injury, with a new personal best, 419th in 54:06 ahead of Teresa Talbott running 16 miles not 6 and finishing the race in 55:25 in 434th place ahead of Angela Bebbington, 452nd in 56:41. Next came Kelly Finney with a good run, 469th in 58:13 just in front of Natasha Quick, 474th in 58:43.  Andy Pole and Katie Poole finished strongly together in 484th and 485th places (60:07, 60:05)  with William Wright just behind, 488th in 60:29 followed by John Lewis, 499th in 62:23, Hayley Rudin, 504th in 63:13 and  Julie Henfrey who set a new personal best of 69:38 (516th) to complete the team.
