Ivanhoe Runners ladies team put on a very strong performance on Saturday at the Midland Counties six stage Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park competing well against the very best teams in the region. Conditions were challenging with strong blustery winds and last minute changes which made the course hillier and longer than anticipated at 3.15 miles. Laura Johnson led the team out very well finishing the first leg in 36th place in 21:53. The remaining five ladies, all vets, finished very strongly showing great strength in depth in the team with Amanda Bradbury taking the second leg in 24:01 handing over to Ruth Shaw who ran the third leg in 24:24. Carolyn Osborne ran fourth in 25:01 passing on to Ruth Green who crossed in 24:39 before Victoria Smith completed the final leg in 24:21. This brought the team home in 2:24:26 in 36th place of 52 teams, a very pleasing result given the quality of the field.
