Race results

The latest event for Ivanhoe Runners was the very challenging Charnwood hills race on Sunday. With over 14 miles and 1200 feet of ascent over Bradgate, Broombriggs and Beacon Hill Country Parks, this is one of the toughest events on the running calendar. Following recent successes in cross country events, twelve team mates braved the icy weather to take part in this true fell race.

Ramzi Sidani was once again first home for the team in an excellent 14th place in 1:43:15, some 6 minutes quicker than last year. Steve Baggott was next running well to cross in 54th lace in 1:52:58. Becca Hobbs had a storming run which saw her finish in an excellent 78th place overall and 8th lady in 1:57:54 ahead of her husband Dave Hobbs who was next, 94th in 2:00:59. Martin Yeomans ran well despite recent illness finishing in 123rd place in 2:06:06 followed by Tim Sturla, also much quicker than last year, 164th in 2:11:22 with Rosie Dear just behind having an excellent race to come home 7th in age group, 166th overall in 2:12:01. Andy Pawley was next in 228th position and a time of 2:23:18. Karen Bell and Ingrid Redmond ran together the whole way round and finished in 234th and 235th with the same time of 2:25:20. Heather Swan thoroughly enjoyed the tough race and completed the team’s finishers crossing in 286th place. Teresa Talbott also competed but unfortunately had to retire injured after taking the uphill sections with ease. Overall the ladies team  took 6th place whilst the men where 9th fastest team.
