Round three of the Derby Runner Cross Country League at Bagworth Heath saw another great turnout by Ivanhoe Runners with 32 athletes competing for the club. It was particularly great to see several members of the junior Club, Ivanhoe Robins making their way into the senior ranks and putting in excellent performances for the team. The course was a slightly amended route compared to previous years being shorter at 4.6 miles and with a few bottlenecks leading to queues. First home for Ivanhoe was Darren Jones in only his second ever cross country race, finishing an impressive 46th place in 32:11 just ahead of Ivanhoe Robin Zach Meakin who looks a great prospect, finishing 55th in 32:31. The in-form Ian Bolton was next, 60th in 32:50 followed by Men’s Captain Martin Yeomans, 83rd in 33:35 just ahead of Gerard Eivors, 95th in 34:05. Next came the Ivanhoe Men’s engine room with Nick Rowles, 107th in 34:44. Andy Lindley, 151st in 36:48, Dave Morse, 179th in 38:44 and Andy Jeyes, 188th in 39:06. Youngster Jake Shaw had a great run for the senior team to finish 207th in 40:07 just ahead of the experienced Tim Sturla 213th in 40:50 and Kev Wright, 214th in 40:52. Close packing from the remaining Ivanhoe Men finished off a great team performance with John Shaw, 229th in 41:40. Ivan Arkinstall 230th in 41:41 after falling, Alan Edwards, 232nd in 41:44, Club Chairman Kev Sanders, 244th in 42:40 and finally Phil Slocombe, 252nd in 44:02. In the Ladies race first home for Ivanhoe was Laura Johnson who finished a very pleasing 8th in 35:46, which sadly didn’t count for the team as Laura is a second claim member. Zoe Allery was next continuing her fine cross country season, 30th in 39:51 just ahead of Rebecca Enion, 41st in 40:54 and ladies captain Julia Blewitt-Jenkins who recovered well from a fall to finish 44th in 41:09. Laura Graves continued her excellent recent form to come next, 53rd in 42:30 followed by Carolyn Osborne, 56th in 42:35 and Tracy Smith, 63rd in 43:19. Great team packing saw Amanda Bradbury lead the next group of Ivanhoe Runners home, finishing 77th in 45:03 ahead of another faller, Fiona McKean, 83rd in 45:19, Ivanhoe Robin Ellie Shaw a great 86th in 45:49 and Allie Sturla 93rd in 46:30. Teresa Talbott was next, 101st in 47:16 closely followed by Trish McPherson, 103rd in 47:44, Seran Bradley 108th in 47:57 and another Ivanhoe Robin, Lucy Roberts, 115th in 48:33. Overall the Ladies came 9th out of 19 teams with the men 11th out of 18 and the combined team finishing 13th out of 18 teams
