08/12/2013 - Keyworth Turkey Trot


This week saw the final round of the 2013 Grand Prix series for Ivanhoe Runners at the popular Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon. With a challenging yet fast course over undulating country lanes perfect conditions saw some fantastic Ivanhoe performances including a string of personal best times. First home for the club finishing in an excellent 29th place in 1:23:00 was Ramzi Sidani, not far ahead of Alistair Chambers who had a great run to come home in 1:26:38 which placed him first male vet 50, his efforts rewarded with a trophy and a prize turkey!. Martin Yeomans was next with a fine run, his best for several seasons, 1:29:43 (102nd). Barry Alldread beat his half marathon personal best time by an amazing fifteen minutes to come home next in 1:31:27 (124th) finishing together with Tim Caukwell who also set a new fastest time of 1:31:32 (125th), as did Nick Rowles with a great run of 1:31:57 (128th). They were ably supported by Nick Teige who played a great team role in pacing his club mates and finished in 129th (1:31:58). Andy Lindley was next again setting a new personal fastest time of 1:33:41 (156th) just ahead of super veteran Andy Jeyes, 165th in 1:34:13. Phil Stevenson ran bravely despite illness and was disappointed to finish 203rd in 1:36:59 ahead of Tim Sturla, 234th in 1:37:56 and Kev Wright, 260th in 1:39:11. Laura Graves had another fantastic run to beat her personal best time set recently in Bendidorm finishing 6th in category (336th overall) in an impressive 1:43:37 and first Ivanhoe lady. Rosie Dear was next despite limited training, 361st in 1:44:34. Julia Blewitt-Jenkins had a fanastic race in her final performance as Ladies’ Captain, beating her .personal best set 7 years ago and finishing sub 1:45 for the first time (1:44:40, 364th). In yet another great team performance Julia was supported by Becca Hallam who finished along side her in the same time. Ivan Arkinstall was next finishing strongly in 1:47:19 (416th) ahead of Karen Bell returning from illness, 419th in 1:47:30 and another solid performance from Carolyn Osborne, 455th in 1:49:15th. Rebecca and Ruth Enion ran together and finished well in 1:50:22 (480th) and 1:50:25 (482nd) respectively, with Fiona McKean next setting a great new personal best time of 1:52:08 (520th). Ruth Green was next with yet another personal best time of 1:54:00 (553rd) just ahead of Victoria Smith, 557th in 1:54:09. Trish McPherson had a great run also beating her previous best time crossing in 1:55:45 (584th) before Amanda Bradbury completed the finishers despite a painful back injury, 662nd in 1:59:46. This rounded off an excellent day for the team and a highly successful year’s racing for the Club.
