Following the cancellation of the Barrow 6, the second race in this year’s Leicester Road Running Winter League was held on Sunday at the Markfield 10k. Blustery winds added to the challenge of this undulating course but this didn’t deter the 25 strong team from Ivanhoe Runners. First home for the club and setting an excellent new personal best time of 38:13 was Ian Bolton (61st), with Richard Martin next, not far behind in 39:04 (70th) then Martin Yeomans, 120th in 41:09. Next with the performance of the day in her first road race for some time was Kelly Alldread who finished 5th lady (130th overall) in 41:37. Nick Rowles had a great run to finish in 42:35 (157th) ahead of Andy Lindley (44:11, 200th) and Kev Wright (44:25, 204th). Dave Morse was next home for Ivanhoe (281st in 47:03) followed by Andy Pawley (294th in 47:47). Next came two Ivanhoe ladies, sisters Bec Sharpe (317th and 49th lady in 48:22) and Ruth Enion (318th and 50th lady in 48:23) followed by Julia Blewitt-Jenkins who completed the ladies scoring team (329th in 48:53, 56th lady). Laura Graves was next setting a new personal best time on this tough course (49:23, 344th, 60th lady) followed by Duncan Ross (359th, 50:10) and Ruth Green (375th, 50:49, 72nd lady). Amanda Bradbury was next (397th in 52:10, 81st lady) heading off Carolyn Osborne (409th in 52:48, 89th lady) and Victoria Smith (412nd in 53:08, 91st lady). Karl Savill finished next (424th in 54:09) followed by Allie Sutrla who had a great run to come home in 54:18 (427th, 101st lady). Emma Kirtland and Seran Bradley finished together and both set new personal best times, Emma 431st in 54:46, 105th lady and Seran 432nd in 54:42, 106th lady). Teresa Talbott and Heather Swan also crossed the finishing line together in 55:03 (440th, 112nd lady) and 55:10 (441st, 113th lady) respectively. Angela Wheeler completed the Ivanhoe team with a great run and new personal best time of 58:54 (482nd and138th lady). With many members racing on the back of long training runs for spring marathons these results reflect an excellent day for Ivanhoe Runners.
