On Saturday 15th November three brave Ivanhoe Runners embarked on incredible challenge of endurance running as they took on the Brecon Beacons Ultramarathon, a race of some 46 miles long over varied undulating terrain in beautiful Welsh countryside. Amazingly two of the team, Ian Kirk and Tim Sturla, ran the race as part of a challenge they have set to complete 12 marathon races in 2014. First home for the club with a fantastic run was Andy Gillies who finished in 63rd place in 9:43:10. Ian and Tim ran together throughout and looked very fresh at the end as they came home in 90th and 91st places in 10:27:27 – fantastic performances from all three runners.
