Race results

A huge squad of 27 Ivanhoe Runners turned out for the club for the latest round of the Burton and District Summer League on Sunday at the Burton 10k organised by Hatton Darts.  Run over a testing undulating course with a fast downhill finish and the final 400 metres on the track, there were some excellent performances and several new personal best times. Proving a fantastic new member for the club and fastest home was Michael Trott, 13th overall in 37:57, just passing Ramzi Sidani before the finish line as he crossed in 38:00 (16th). Alistair Chambers was next with yet another excellent run placing him 26th overall in 39:09. In his last race before he turns 50 this week Martin Yeomans stormed home to finish in 41 minutes exactly (39th), ahead of Kev Wright, 58th in 42:57. Andy Jeyes had a great run to take home the 1st Vet 60 prize, 68th in 43:44 with Tim Sturla close behind crossing in 44:22 (77th) just ahead of Ian Kirk, 82nd in 44:32. Damon Bland was next continuing his great first year of racing for Ivanhoe, 88th in 45:08 followed by Andy Lindley, 102nd in 46:46. Next came Ivanhoe’s first lady home, Karen Bell crossing in 48:42 (17th lady, 125th overall). Karen Hartland and Will Wright both had fantastic races and finished together in joint 132nd place in 49:20, a new personal best time for both runners. Amanda Bradbury had a pleasing run next to finish 22nd lady (134th overall) in 49:31 with Ruth Green running well close behind, 25th lady in 49:40 (137th). The last Ivanhoe Runner under 50 minutes with a fine run to beat his previous fastest time was Kev Marsh, 140th in 49:56. Karl Savill ran well despite injury, 162nd in 51:18 ahead of Fiona McKean, 42nd lady (183rd) in 53:17. Not to be outdone by her husband Andy, Sally Jeyes also came home with silverware winning the ladies vet 65 prize as she finished in 48th place (198th overall) in 54:18. Next was Angela Wheeler, 70th lady (238th) in 54:18 and Maureen Danvers, 71st lady (239th) in 59:46. New member John Lewis finished strongly, 262nd in 1:04:28 ahead of Brian Gough, 263rd in 1:04:39, Hayley Rudin, 266th in 1:04:55 Elaine Moulton and Andy Pole, 272nd in 1:07:29. Julie Henfrey rounded off the Ivanhoe team with a great run to beat her personal best finishing 93rd lady (279th) in 1:14:05. Elsewhere newlyweds David Hobbs and Becca Hallam ran the inaugural Badgers Atherstone 10k and the trip was certainly worth their while as Becca stormed home to finish 3rd lady (16th overall) in a new personal fastest time of 41:51, finishing not far behind her new husband Dave who was 14th in 41:34. Over in Yorkshire Nick Teige took part in his latest round of a tough 10 marathon in 10 weeks challenge to race money for the Brain Tumour Charity following his great run in the Thames meander Marathon last week where he finished 19th in 3:18:29. This weekend he took on the cobblestones and hills of the Halifax marathon and continued his excellent string of results to complete in 16th place in 3:44:15.
