Race results

There was another impressive Ivanhoe turnout at Huncote Harriers Joy Cann Memorial Race with 25 members competing in the 5 mile race in Huncote. There were many excellent performances with a host of new personal bests and some debut races for the club. Fastest was Richard Martin setting a new personal best time of 29:49 and finishing 41st ahead of Ian Bolton having a great comeback from injury to also set a new PB of 31:05 (63rd). Michael Trott will be a great addition to the men’s team finishing next in his first race in Ivanhoe colours and setting a new PB in the process of 31:50 (82nd). Martin Yeomans was pleased with his 32:35 (105th) finish, as was Nick Rowles who set yet another new personal fastest time of 33:15 (120th). Barry Alldread ran well to come home in 35:07 (173rd) just ahead of Ian Kirk who beat his previous best time at the distance in finishing 190th in 35:24 closely followed by Richard Bebbington, 204th in 35:53. Next came Chris Finney who is rapidly improving, smashing his previous best time as he crossed in 37:10 (254th) with Dave Morse just behind (37:18, 271st). Fastest lady with a fantastic new PB was Victoria Smith, 287th in 38:03 ahead of Laura Graves, 307th in 38:37 and Karen Hartland who also posted a new personal best time of 38:46 (313th) seconds ahead of Rebecca Wilkinson (316th in 38:51). Hayley Rudin was next with a great performance in her first ever race for the club, 526th in 53:03 followed by Julie Henfrey who finished very strongly in 57:11 (536th) to beat her previous best time.

The weekend saw a bit of variety for several team members who battled the atrocious weather. Amanda Bradbury and Heather Swan took on the Cannock Chase Canicross 10k with their dogs, Beau and Bunty. Amanda and Beau had an excellent morning finishing second lady and dog in 50:04 whilst Heather and Bunty enjoyed their first race of this kind to finish 18th in 1:10:58. Carolyn Osborne brought home a trophy from the Erewash sprint triathlon, where the conditions were so poor the race was stopped before team mate Trish McPherson had completed the swim. Nevertheless Carolyn put in a great performance to win her age group. Also taking on a triathlon despite appalling weather was Ruth Enion who survived the storm to finish the BRAT standard triathlon in an excellent 2:24:115. Meanwhile men’s club captain Martin Yeomans and fellow Ivanhoe Runners Jason Green and Bob White swapped their running shoes for road bikes in the Ride London-Surrey 100 sportive. The treacherous weather conditions meant that the route was shortened to 86 miles but the trio finished safely in times of 6:05, 5:08 and 6:25 respectively to raise money for the local Charity Wishes 4 Kids.
