27/07/2014 - Outlaw Ironman triathlon

The weekend was a special one for the club with two members completing the extraordinarily tough Outlaw Ironman distance triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and full 26.2 mile marathon run, with many members out on the course in support. In what must rank as one of the greatest ever Ivanhoe performances, Teresa Talbott finished 45th lady (8th in age group) in an incredible 13 hours 11 mins 34 seconds. Teresa’s performance was consistent throughout all three disciplines with a 1 hour 9 minute swim, 7 hour cycle and 4:46:50 marathon showing superb discipline and endurance ability. Teresa’s result was particularly remarkable since she is a working mother of four and only recovered from a back injury that threatened to end her running career last year. Equally impressive was the performance of club-mate Julian Rawlings who followed up his success in the event last year with another excellent day beating his last year’s time by almost an hour as he finished in 14:23:03 (1:32:50 swim, 6:41:37 cycle and 5:39:35 run). These excellent performances by both athletes are sure to inspire other members to try their hand at this challenging event in future.
