Race results


A massive team of 27 Ivanhoe Runners turned out for the Prestwold 10k, the second race in the Leicestershire Road Racing Summer League and there were some noticeable performances including new personal bests and debut races for the club. Conditions were tough with soaring temperatures and humidity adding to the challenge. First home for the club and 4th in his category was Alistair Chambers, 65th overall in 39:57 followed by Gerard Eivors who is proving a great new addition to the men’s team finishing 84th in 41:01 just ahead of a great run by Martin Yeomans, 110th in 42:16. Clare Fowell was next, appearing to relish the hot conditions by posting a new personal best by over 3 minutes, 130th overall (5th in category) in 42:47 closely followed by an Ivanhoe quartet of Dave Morse (133rd in 42:56), Dave Hobbs who set a new personal fastest time (134th in 42:58), Kev Wright (136th in 43:18) and Mike Sharpe (150th in 43:52). Damon Bland was next with another strong run and a new personal best time, 157th in 44:13 just in front of Becca Hallam, 162nd in 44:27. Nick Rowles was next returning from illness and injury to finish 198th in 46:05, 5 seconds ahead of Andy Pawley, 205th in 46:10. Laura Graves enjoyed her run despite the heat to finish 4th in age group, 230th in 47:29 ahead of Karen Bell, 287th in 49:50 and Victoria Smith, 310th in 50:58. Next came a flurry of Ivanhoe Runners: Karen Hartland (320th in 51:07), Rebecca Wilkinson (326th in 51:20), Kevin Marsh (342nd in 51:46) and Chris Finney (344th in 51:55). Next came Emily Starkie (372nd in 54:18) followed by Gabby Smith who set a new personal fastest time of 56:53 (405th) just ahead of Helen Horn (411th in 57:12). Christopher Jones was making his debut race for the club and had a great run, accompanied by fiancée Bev Trilloe (413rd and 415th in 57:20 and 57:21). Angela Wheeler and Heather Swan ran together finishing just on the hour (444th in 1:00:01 and 455th in 1:00:03). Kelly Finney felt unwell in the heat and did really well to recover and finish the race strongly in 1:01:46 (468th place).
