03/03/2022 - The busiest bees inc. Belvoir
Our members have been busy bees racing their hearts out, so let’s tell you about some of them shall we!
Mid storm, brave Jess Southwart took on the exposed course round Holme Pierrepoint, laying down an impressive time of 2:20.
At the Wednesday evening Dave Denton races in Derby, Louis Barnes, Robin Edlin and Judy Mouncer took on both the one mile and 5K races, with Richard Martin joining them for the latter distance.
This weekend was all systems go, with the Leicestershire Road Running League back in action with it’s first race of the season. Showing up for the club were Paul Woods, Mark Bradford, Andrew Bottrill, Bob White, Alan Edwards, Martin Yeomans, Julie Henfrey, Faye Burrows, Karen Edwards, Jess Southwart, Sue Tait, Paul Avereillo, Lindsay Tilbury, Carolyn Osborne and Victoria Smith.
Covering the half marathon distance at Prestwold Hall and the neighbouring race track was Chair Nick Rowles (01:29), Matt Joyce (01:41:57), Cath Watkins (01:49:34) achieving a fabulous personal best time, Suzy Parish (01:59:23) another super PB and her first time under 2 hours, Matt Humphreys (02:18:47), Sophie Cooper, and Alex Gillon who was completing her first half marathon event!
Taking on the epic Belvoir Challenge and its cross-country course with ample available cake was a contingent of 7 Ivanhoes. In the 26 miler, Ramzi Sidani finished in incredibly impressive fifth place in 3:33, and was followed in by James Cox (4:28), Ian Kirk (4:46), Andrea Trickett (5:11), Kev Laz (5:18), Mark Hoult (5:26) and Tim Sturla (5:48). Over the 15 mile distance was Andy Jeyes (2:28), James Ogilvie (2:41) and Sarah Malone (3:35).
Captain Louis Barnes took on the 10 off road miles of the Brooksie’s Winter Bash, finishing in an amazing 8th place.
