02/07/2017 - Ashbourne half, Warslow fell

Race results

With no league action last weekend ahead of the tough Hungarton 7 fixture looming, most Ivanhoe Runners were training over the weekend or doing their other favourite sport of triathlon. Some Ivanhoe Runners did find races though, and Patrick Horn did the Ashbourne half marathon, a tough event on a rural route. He ran a fine 1.41.13, 5 minutes outside his best but a good time on the testing course.

Not knowing what "rest" is, Andy Lindley combined his two favourite pastimes - beer festivals and running - when competing in the Warlsow Beer Festival fell race. On a brutal course, with near vertical climbs, Andy clocked 1 hour 25 minutes for the 10k distance, giving some idea of the degree of difficulty,  climbing over 1,800 feet in the process!

Several club members took part in the Foremark Hall Pool Triathlon, including Hanna Robbins, Martin Yeomans, Simon Hill, Karen Bell and James Cubitt, with Martin making his triathlon debut.
