Race results

The Leicestershire Road Running League action moved to the Markfield 10k and Ivanhoe Runners fielded a string team despite members being in action at other races across the country.

Leading the sky blues home was Matt Pleass, having a great run to post a new personal best time of 37.10in 37th place. Just two seconds behind and also setting a new personal best was Ramzi Sidani, clocking 37.12. Not far behind, Adam Smyth was next home in an excellent 59th place, clocking 37.35, followed by Craig Hinds 59th in 38.55.

The first lady home for Ivanhoe Runners was Eliza Wrenne, clocking a superb 40.45 to finish 5th lady, just ahead of Ellie Armstrong who clocked 41.12 to finish 6th lady. Clare Fowell backed them up superbly, clocking 42.44 to finish 11th lady and put the team in a great position. Mark Bradford ran a very strong 42.55 to finish in 137th place, half a minute ahead of Martin Yeomans 149th in 43.29.

Karen Bell continued her intense training with an unusually short run for her, but sped round in 47.07 to finish 49th lady. Richard Bebbington was behind her on the road but clocked a slightly quicker 47.02 (252nd), ahead of Bob White 264th in 47.48. Mark Hoult set a new personal best as he clocked the same 47.48 as Bob but was 8 places in arrears. Chris Finney made a rare appearance and would have been content with 48.31 in 291st.

Karen Hartland is on high mileage Spring marathon training and so was happy with 49.31, and Laura Graves was happy with her 50.53 clocking. Carolyn Osborne was next home, clocking 51.02, just ahead of Amanda Bradbury 51.24, who in turn just held off Pete Graves 51.38. Teresa Talbott prefers the mud but ran strongly for 54.56, passing several fellow members on the run-in. Lucy Allsop has returned well form injury and ran a solid 55.04, not far ahead of Christine Ridley 55.43. Kevin Sanders ran his longest race since the Palma 10 last October and was pleased to get round in 56.28, and was followed home by Grania Towle 1.00.42 and Club Chairman Heather Swan, still recovering from the Belvoir Challenge marathon and clocking 1.06.25.
