18/12/2016 - Mince pie run, Derby 5k, Wolv 5m

The start of the festive period saw the Annual Ivanhoe Runners and Ivanhoe Robins mince pie run, a fun two-person team event where the future (an Ivanhoe Robin) is paired with the present and sometimes the past (an Ivanhoe Runner) for a swift 1.2 mile lap of the lake at Hicks Lodge.

There was a record turnout this year, and the first two teams home saw Luke Talbot and Kyle Barker out-dip Isabel Armstrong on the line. This is a great event where the two clubs come together for a very enjoyable morning that inevitably included mince pies and chocolates.

The Derby midweek 5k series saw regulars Andy Lindley and Karen Bell take part, and they were joined by fellow five more Ivanhoe Runners. Richard Martin was first back for Ivanhoe in 19.08 in 54th, followed by Andy setting a new personal best for the road 5k and cracking 20 minutes for the first time, clocking 19.57 in 66th. Karen clocked 22.09 in 91st, followed by Sam Toon who also set a new personal  best time of 26.17 in 110th. Marie Concannon ran 29.44 in 120th, followed by Chrissy Betteridge and Helen Brandon who ran 34.11 and 34.23 to finish 125th and 126th repsectively.

Over in the Black Country, Becca and Dave Hobbs ran the Wolverhampton 5 Mile Turkey Trot.
